Privacy Policy
1. The short version
Paste My does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, share, host, analyse, profile or store your clippings, your files, your identifiers or any telemetry on servers controlled by the developer. Everything you do with Paste My happens on your Mac.
There is no account and no sign-in. We use no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, social-login or tracking components, and we do not train any model on your data.
Paste My uses the network in exactly one circumstance: to communicate with Apple's App Store when you make or restore an in-app purchase. There is no other network use.
2. Who this policy applies to
This Privacy Policy applies to the Paste My application for macOS as distributed by Apple on the App Store, and to any in-app purchase offered through it.
It does not cover Apple's services — the App Store, your Apple Account, iCloud or Universal Clipboard — which are governed by Apple's own privacy policies. Nor does it cover any third-party application you choose to use alongside Paste My.
3. Data we collect — none
For the purposes of Apple's App Privacy framework, Paste My declares Data Not Collected in every category.
We do not collect contact information, health and fitness data, financial information, location, sensitive information, contacts, user content (including your clippings), browsing or search history, identifiers, purchases, usage data, diagnostics, or any other data on servers controlled by the developer.
The information Paste My stores on your own Mac, described in section 4, is not received, accessed or held by us, and is therefore not “collected” within the meaning of that framework.
4. What lives on your Mac
Although we collect nothing, Paste My necessarily works with information that resides on your own Mac, under your control. None of it is transmitted to us.
- Your clipboard history. The content of what you copy — text, rich text, links, images, files, file paths and other clipboard data — is stored locally so that you can retrieve it. It is stored with Paste My rather than loose on your disk, and removing the application removes it.
- Information about each clipping. The application you copied it in, the kind of content, its size, the date and time you copied it, and a record of whether the content arrived on this Mac from another Apple device.
- Your organisation of it. Pins, tags, collections and any notes you attach.
- Your preferences. Your layout choice, capture settings, storage settings, rules you create, the list of applications you have chosen to exclude, and a record that you accepted these documents.
- A record of your purchases. A local record of which in-app purchase you own, used to determine how much history the application keeps.
5. Content we deliberately do not store
Some clipboard content is excluded from your history by design, without any setting on your part.
- Content marked as concealed. Password managers and similar applications mark what they place on the clipboard as not intended for capture. Paste My honours that marker and does not store the content.
- Content from applications you exclude. If you place an application on the ignore list, its clipboard content is skipped entirely — including the name of the application itself.
- Anything copied while saving is paused. Nothing copied between pausing and resuming is recorded.
In addition, content that Paste My recognises as likely to be sensitive — passwords and passphrases, API keys and tokens, private keys, one-time codes and valid payment-card numbers — is masked on screen until you choose to reveal it, and is not written to any log. This recognition happens entirely on your Mac.
6. Permissions we do not request
Paste My does not request the permission that would allow it to read the window titles of other applications or to observe what you are doing in them.
Where a clipping records that it arrived from another Apple device, that is established from information already present on this Mac. Where the available information is inconclusive, the clipping is marked unverified rather than attributed to a device we cannot confirm.
Paste My does not request access to your location, your contacts, your calendar, your photos library, your microphone or your camera.
7. Files you grant access to
When you copy a file, Paste My keeps a copy so that you can export it back to disk later. Some files require your explicit permission before they can be kept, and Paste My asks for that permission at the time.
Permission you grant applies to the files you selected and persists so that those files remain available after you restart your Mac. It is not a general grant of access to your disk, and you can decline it.
8. Purchases
Paste My is free to download. Optional one-time in-app purchases increase how much history the application keeps.
All purchases are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details, your Apple Account, your name or your billing address. Apple provides the application with confirmation of what you have purchased so that the corresponding limit can be applied on your Mac; that confirmation is stored locally.
Communicating with Apple's App Store when you buy or restore a purchase is the only occasion on which Paste My uses the network. If a purchase is refunded, Paste My does not silently delete anything — it tells you what has changed and lets you decide how to proceed.
9. Children
Paste My is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 years old to use it, or older where the law of your country sets a higher minimum age for the use of digital services or for consent to the processing of personal data — including an age of 16 for residents of Romania and several other Member States of the European Economic Area under Article 8 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
10. Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or erase on your behalf. Rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and equivalent laws are, in practice, exercised by you directly on your own Mac:
- Delete an individual clipping at any time.
- Clear your history, which removes everything except the clippings you pinned or collected, after a confirmation.
- Set clippings to be removed automatically after a number of days.
- Exclude an application entirely, or pause saving.
- Remove the application, which removes your history with it.
If you believe we have processed personal data about you, write to us at help@pastemy.app and we will respond. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Romania, the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP).
11. Backups you control
If you use Time Machine, iCloud Backup or another backup system, your Mac may include Paste My's data in those backups. That is a function of your backup arrangements rather than of Paste My, and it is governed by whatever terms apply to the backup service you have chosen.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published here with a new effective date, and the change will be shown in the application where it is significant. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of it.
